deltatre has been quietly celebrating the successful roll-out of a new product with the delivery of the Notification Engine for the EURO 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
The Notification Engine is an optional module of deltatre’s content management system, Forge. It provides clients with the capability to send push notifications to their mobile applications running on Apple iOS, Android, Windows Mobile 7 and Blackberry mobile devices through a single API. It handles device registrations using a flexible subscription model and is designed to manage high volumes of push notifications making it particularly suitable for large sports events.
For the EURO 2012 tournament an instance of the Notification Engine was deployed on deltatre’s private cloud hosting solution (HCP) and coupled with Matrics,deltatre’s results system, and Forge to allow push notifications to be delivered to multiple iOS and Android mobile applications for news and match events. Over 5 million push notifications were delivered during the event providing notifications for news, team line-ups, match timings, goal scores and other key match events all with the aim of keeping fans up-to-date with events and driving traffic to the mobile applications.
The Notification Engine will also be deployed during the London 2012 Olympics for several clients, providing many millions of users with alerts for events and news on their mobile applications.
