It may not have been the World Cup, but there was just as much pride at stake during deltatre’s Charity Football Tournament this week. The annual tournament, this year in aid of Kids in Sport, took place at the Goals Soccer Centre in Gillette Corner, Isleworth and raised £1,500 in vital funds.
Kids in Sport is a local charity that believe all children should have the opportunity to play sport, regardless of their circumstances. It is those children who do not always have the opportunity, either through disability or through their situation that the charity seeks to support. “Working in the sports industry, we see first-hand the power sport can have,” commented George Hawes, deltatre’s Operations Manager and Event Organiser, “…and knowing this is why we chose to help such a worthwhile cause”.
The 5-a-side tournament, now in its fourth year, is supported by many of deltatre’s clients and partners, including Premier League Productions, European Tour, Sunset + Vine, Sky Sports, IMG, Channel 4, the Premier League, Input Media, Opta, MP & Silva and SportBusiness, all of whom generously donated an entry fee that will go straight to the charity.
The night itself was full of competitive spirit, with all teams battling to take home the coveted trophy. In the end Sky Sports were victorious, winning for the first time! A summer BBQ and raffle ended the evening’s activities, and the trophy was presented to the winning team by Kids in Sport Chairman and Founder, Roger Budd.
Paul Bristow, deltatre’s Chief Operating Officer said “We always have such a fantastic turn out for this tournament and would like to say a huge thank you to all who participated. Being able to support a charity that changes the lives of local children through sport is incredibly important to us, and it is these children who could be the Olympic and Paralympic stars of the future. ”
