Univision Deportes, the sports division of Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, was named as a recipient of two prestigious Sports Emmy Awards this month by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), for the channel’s innovative coverage with Futbol Central and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The double Emmy awards – in the categories of Outstanding Live Sports Coverage in Spanish and Outstanding Studio Show in Spanish – honour Univision Deportes’ record-setting work as a leader in how audiences consume sports events and broadcasters encompass technology. These awards represent the company’s first ever national Emmy recognition.
deltatre had the privilege to work closely with Univision Deportes on both Futbol Club and its FIFA World Cup coverage, providing the design, technology and delivery of studio-based augmented reality graphics. In addition, for the FIFA World Cup, deltatre provided a sophisticated multi-touch Touchscreen and all data-driven tournament graphics.
“These two Sports Emmy® awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Univision Deportes team,” said Juan Carlos Rodriguez, president of Univision Deportes. “We are pleased to receive the recognition and deltatre has been a valuable partner to us in making it come to life.”
Commenting on the announcement, deltatre’s Commercial Director (North America), Tomas Robertsson, said: “We congratulate Univision Deportes on their terrific achievement, which is very well deserved. Their Emmy success demonstrates the importance to offer fans thrilling and engaging viewing experiences. deltatre is honored to have been a part of this Emmy-winning team.”
Univision Deportes’ Emmy awards add to the growing list of honors involving deltatre’s associated work in major sporting events, including the London 2012 Games, a Webby Award given to LOCOG and an Olympic BAFTA Award presented to Channel 4.
