Daniele Galiffa on the Sportel StartUp Competition

by Press Office

The Sportel StartUp Competition’s back this fall so we asked maiden 2014 edition winner and Goalshouter Co-Founder Daniele Galiffa to spill the beans on his Monaco sport contest experience.

If you’re one of the start-ups competing this October – which you can be, if you apply here before September ends – Galiffa reveals what gives you a great chance in the professional sport business at Sportel.

Galiffa Sportel StartUp Competition

Daniele Galiffa, 35, and living in sunny Brindisi, beat all competition last year when Goalshouter presented their innovative idea on football fans engagement to the deltatre and Sportel jury in Monaco. The winner, who is also CEO of the startup since 2013, explained that he was ’chuffed’ to win the contest and has been making waves in the world of sport technology – including swinging into the world of video content, which was a Sportel eye-opener.

“It’s the way to go”, he explains to the new contestants as his Sportel winning app’s new release approaches on 02/09. “In two days your startup has access to the elite of the sport industry – world leading executives, key decision makers, brands, leagues and federations – and the ticket Sportel. With an industry-disrupting app or innovative solution, you’re sure to attract some quality investors to look after number one. Great networking.”

Galiffa acknowledges a great added value to the vertical nature of the Sportel Competition, a rare-to-find trait in regular pitch competitions, which gather investors from horizontal market-types. “It is nice to know the importance of being able to network to the right people, have enough space to present your business model to very different companies in the same sector and take measures with the other contestants, learn from mistakes and such, of course.”

With this year’s competition going even fuller on development and innovative thinking matters, Daniele adds: “‘It makes sense to be there. The expertise of the judges last year was mesmerising; Goalshouter collected critics that enabled us to adjust our value proposition – which was terrific for the team. Plus, I met people of the calibre of Phil Lines, who was hanging out at the convention!”.

After being voted 2014’s Sportel Startup Competition winner, Galiffa said GoalShouter knew how to work bigger and better. They increased their b2b offering and b2c metrics usage, were finalists by the IMPACT Accelerator whilst more key investors joined Goalshouter last July to fill-in a bridge round that the Italian start-up had opened at Sportel 2014.
