About us

Luca Marini

Luca is one of the co-founders of deltatre. A graduate in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, he is married with 3 children. He is a keen golfer, skier, tennis player, and sailor (when younger). He loves the sea, with a passion for the island of Sant’Antioco, south Sardinia, where he spends most of his holidays. Luca started his journey in Sport Events data processing in 1978, working all over the world in hundreds of Alpine Ski World Cup and Formula 1 events, and later also in MotoGP and Athletics main events. He is now CEO, together with Gipi, of deltatre.

Giampiero Rinaudo

Giampiero (Gipi) is the co-founder of the Company and looks after the Strategy and Business Development activities of the Group. A graduate of Computer Sciences, Gipi started his activity in Sport and Technology when he was a student, as free-lancer in timing and data service for  Alpine Ski World Cup and Formula 1 races.  He proceeded to develop many applications for Formula 1 timing, TV Graphics and Athletics and then moved to managerial roles in order to accompany the impressive growth of deltatre over these 20 years. Gipi is married, with twin daughters. He practices football, cycling, running, swimming, skiing and enjoys a lot of other sports, technology and travel…really, what’s better than being the deltatre CEO?

Livio Babando

Livio, currently UEFA Account Manager and Program Manager, joined deltatre in April 1990 just a few months after graduating in Computer Science. He started his experience in Sport and Technology developing the results system for the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Tokyo 1991. From 1997 he focused on the d3 Accreditation system development, coordinating the service in Sestriere’97 and Vail ’99 for the FIS Ski World Alpine Championships.  Then, he went from leading the IAAF events management, to  project managing the  2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games results system. In 2002 he started to work on UEFA projects as project leader. Even in his forties, he continues to practice judo, skiing, snowboarding, football, running, swimming, windsurfing, diving and sailing.

Paul Bristow

Paul has over 20 years experience in the international sports business and is a co-founder of the UK office of deltatre – deltatre media, which was established in 2002. He is responsible for the management of the UK office, with focused energy and attention on strategy and new business development. Paul started his career at the International Amateur Athletics Federation (1986-1992) and then moved to Switzerland to join T.E.A.M. Marketing (1992-2001) where, as Director of TV and Special Events, his responsibilities included television rights sales and the event management of the UEFA Champions League.   Being married with 3 young children, he can no longer claim to be an athlete – but still enjoys “jogging”, loves skiing and wishes he could spend more time on the golf course.

Beppe Capella

After a long journey of over 20 years that took him through many exciting experiences in the ICT world and in real life, Beppe is finally back to his first passion: Sport and Technology. As a hippy graduate in Computer Science, Beppe started working in autumn 1980 as a freelancer in timing and data services for the Alpine Ski World Cup and Formula 1 races, like many of the d3 pioneers. After using GW-Basic and Assembler, he was eager for more technological challenges and started his adventure in the more ‘serious’ software engineering world. Fortran. PASCAL, ADA, C and C++ were the tools; Compiler, Inter-process/Network Communication, interrupts and memory handling, case tools and  middleware the challenges; with Ivrea, Salem New Hampshire, Boston area and Milan the locations. Back in Italy in the 90s he co-founded  “Newton”, a company to explore the emerging Internet world. At the same time he found the time to setup a family, Beppe  is married with a young daughter.  In 2000, after being the Y2K program manager of Fiat Auto for all the factory plants and services worldwide, he joined deltatre to support and manage the passage of the company from a sport services company to becoming one of the world leaders in sport ICT solutions.  He has played rugby for more than 20 years, and would also like to have more time for skiing, rowing and travelling with his family.

Alberto Chiavazza

Alberto, born in 1963, joined DeltaTre in 1991, immediately after graduating in Computer Sciences in Turin. He pioneered much of the  TV Graphics and Video developments until 2006. Since then, he has been in charge of Research & Development across deltatre’s products and services. Married and with two young twins he loves traveling and is a keen video gamer.

Gianluca Cirio

Gianluca graduated in Economics in Turin and then was a grant recipient in Mathematics applied to Business Policies at Bocconi University. He thereafter  acquired significant experience as a Controller in charge of budgeting and reporting activities at multinational companies in the chemical and engineering industries. During that period he worked in collaboration with primary consultancy companies as a key user on the implementation of ERP Oracle and as the internal reference person on BPR and logistics re-engineering projects. He has been a deltatre employee since 2003 as Financial Controller and since 2006 as HR Manager. Over these years he has focused on the implementation of the new ERP Sap Business One, the reorganization of control procedures, the support of the deltatre Group internationalization, and the co-ordination of risk management activities. He is a strong believer in the development of personal qualities and skills put into practice along proper business processes; the challenge is the shift from theory to reality.

Carlo De Marchis

Carlo aka "cdm" is the CTO responsible for Strategy and Solutions in deltatre. He has worked for deltatre for over 20 years and has participated in every step of its impressive growth. He enjoyed the magic of traveling worldwide following the various sport events during the early '90s and then moved to shape the software architectures and guide the technology paradigm of the  deltatre solutions. He has facilitated deltatre’s entry into the web race in the early years - around 1994 - and guided the company into becoming the solution provider of the top sport websites worldwide. Creative, unorthodox, and communicative, cdm enjoys shaping web sites, shooting photos and publishing them on flickr, buying music on iTunes, horse riding in real life.

Carlo Lisa

Carlo manages the deltatre Sales and Business Development department in Turin. With over 20 years experience in the technology and sport industry, Carlo graduated in Computer Science in Turin. After working in Italy within the IT area, he moved to Boston for a terrific time working on cutting edge projects including cooperation on the Athena Project at MIT, where he developed a small contributed software part of the official X Window System distribution. Back in Italy, Carlo joined deltatre in 1990, 4 years after its foundation and develops the first deltatre multilingual TV graphics system to manage simultaneous English and Japanese graphics at the Tokyo’91 World Championships in Athletics. He then continued working on Formula1, Cycling and broadcast solutions, moving little by little to more managerial roles, but always with strong focus on technology: his true passion.

Mauro Pallisco

Mauro, graduated in Computer Sciences, joined deltatre in 1991 on April Fools’ Day (could have been a sign!). He has the overall management responsibility for Operations and Events, with focus on football. So much so that he was Project Leader of the FIFA World Cup 2002 and 2006, UEFA Euro 2004 Championships and UEFA Champions League for some seasons, World Alpine Ski Championships and many other projects. Mauro is married, with one child. He plays football and used to play basketball, but now his preference is for Italian wines and food… A sports fan, he loves traveling, reading and listening music.

Tomas Robertsson

Tomas is the Operations Manager for deltatre’s UK office where he oversees the overall delivery to deltatre’s UK-based clients. Born in Iceland, raised in Sweden, and educated in the USA, UK and Japan, Tomas earned degrees in International Relations and Economics before deciding on a career in the fields of Technology and Sport. Tomas joined deltatre in 2003 after starting his career with UEFA Media Technologies. An avid Manchester United fan and, according to his wife, a hopeless computer nerd, Tomas also enjoys skiing, cycling, running, reading, traveling and, of course, the lovely Italian cuisine.

Paolo Zeppegno

Paolo is the latest entry to the deltatre management team, having joined the company in October 2005. He’s always been addicted to advanced technology in the computer industry field, and especially likes discovering new technologies and trends. His accomplishments range from introducing the use of Expert Systems in the field of real-time security monitoring, introducing real-time spreadsheets and TIBCO technology in trading room and many other projects. He’s known in deltatre for introducing the first web server in 1994 to the CTO. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two beautiful kids, skiing, playing table tennis and sailing (unfortunately not as much as he would like).

Navin Wathan

Navin is responsible for Sales and Marketing within deltatre media, and can best be described as a technologist and salesman with a strong passion for sports.  With over 10 years experience from across the new media field, Navin has an impressive track record of working with clients from a diverse set of industries to create successful consumer propositions. A graduate of Imperial College, London, and most recently with T-Mobile International, Navin joined deltatre in 2005, and has made a significant contribution to deltatre's most successful period, working closely with clients and partners including The FA, T-Mobile, Sportfive and WCSN. Navin is a keen runner and cyclist, and can often be found playing with his young son, and/or the latest technical gadget.
