SportsInnovation 2018: the future of sports taking shape in Düsseldorf

An exciting two-day event took place in sunny Düsseldorf last week, marking the debut of SportsInnovation with its 2018’s premiere edition

Held in the beautiful set of the ESPRIT Arena, the summit – organised by Messe Düsseldorf in partnership with DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga – saw

*deltatre *as a Gold Sponsor.

The goal was to deliver a two-day full immersion on current and future sports technologies, bringing together representatives of the most prestigious international organisations, besides a number of clubs from top European and Asian leagues and key decision makers.

Deltatre’s CEO and co-founder, Giampiero Rinaudo, introduced the event on stage with Werner M. Dornscheidt, Chairman of the Board of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, and Christian Seifert, DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH. “Our company was founded over 30 years ago, – he stated – long before the internet and even prior to personal computers. Technology is moving fast, I’m proud of how deltatre has been driving innovation in the media and technology industry in these past decades.”

The event saw the participation of 47 exhibitors from 11 countries, attended by 923 guests overall, and focused around real matches played whilst exhibitors could showcase their technologies as well as products and services in real time. A number of topics were also discussed during dedicated panels and conferences. The “Executive Experts Talk”, moderated by deltatre’s CPMO Carlo De Marchis, saw Lars-Christer Olsson, President European Leagues, Mark Waller, Executive Vice President, International & Events National Football League (NFL), and Andreas Heyden, CEO DFL Digital Sports discussing the future of sports leagues.

Digital content as an asset for the transformation of the fan experience was at the core of Gilles Mas’ speech. “As Gold Sponsor for the event, deltatre has been heavily involved in its organisation, deploying a number of services and solutions around the game. – deltatre’s President Global Football said – Innovation could have different drivers. Our idea today is to try and understand the evolution of fans and how they consume sports, how they live their experience.”

SportsInnovation 2018 resulted in a vibrant, brand new industry platform, able to gather together the excellence of the sports and football industry.
