Which songs get you ready for the working day? We asked five people from our team for their most motivational songs. This is what they said.

If times get tough during the nine to five, some may like to thoughtfully linger over their first sip of a steaming flat white, others may prefer to take a moment in a sunny spot, or perhaps the most organised amongst us may relish a trip to the stationery cupboard to stock up on fresh Post-its to tackle the to-do list.

Whichever way we approach it, many of us will agree that music can play a huge part in putting a spring in our step at any time of day. While sitting in silence can be zen and peaceful, tunes can help to create a warm, welcoming environment and help us all to get in the zone.

We take our playlist very seriously here at Deltatre’s London office, but it can be controversial. Beyonce vs The Beatles, anyone? And so, to end the battle for headline office DJ once and for all, we asked a handful of people to let us know which songs get them most pumped and ready for a working day.

#1. Tell the-Girl by Golden Vessel

Recommended by Regi Liaukus, Cloud Infrastructure Manager

“It’s really hard to pick one,” says Regi. A strong choice though, we agreed.

#2. Porcelain by Moby

Recommended by Piotr Jagiello, IT Manager

Piotr tried to claim this is his song of the moment, however, he is widely regarded as the biggest Elton John fan in London.

#3. Sabotage by the Beastie Boys

Recommended by Jo Pockett, Senior Project Manager

As a seasoned Glastonbury attendee, we know we are in safe hands with Jo at the helm, though her limitless love for Andy C is arguably a little intense for 9am on a Monday morning…

#4. Be Sharp Say Nowt by Patrick Topping

Recommended by Jose Terrones, Software Engineer

“Patrick Topping is what Tuesdays are missing,” says Jose. La Macarena was also a possibility for Jose, but we thought it might have the office reaching for the mute button rather than jumping up to join in with the dance routine.

#5. I Am A God by Kanye West

Recommended by Kenny Chukwudinma, DevOps Engineer

Kenny answered without hesitation. “It’s all about confidence,” he says, “and it’s a good reminder to be confident in yourself.” Well, there’s no arguing with that, and who knows what would happen if we all brought a little bit of that Kanye mentality to the office everyday.

We are so proud to have an eclectic mix of cultures, ages, and talents represented across the whole of Deltatre, and our office playlist choices are a total reflection of this.

Whether you’re more Vivaldi than Kylie, we did manage to agree on a handful of classics. Step this way to see one of our favourite playlists created by our London staff for even more of our favourite tracks.
