Front-End Lead Engineer

Position
We are seeking an experienced Front-End Lead Engineer to drive the development and implementation of high-quality, scalable front-end solutions across major international projects. This role involves leading technical teams, shaping front-end architecture, and staying hands-on with development while guiding and mentoring engineers.
For this role you must be able to work on a hybrid basis with at least 2 days working in the Mumbai office in Goregaon.
Responsibilities
Technical Excellence
- Oversee all front-end engineering aspects of assigned projects, ensuring robust, scalable, secure, high-performing, and accessible solutions.
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor front-end development activities, driving task prioritization and providing technical assessments and estimations.
- Review and validate the technical approach and code quality for all team deliverables, assuring compliance with best practices, coding standards, company standards, and performance benchmarks.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical issues and blockers, being vocal about concerns with proposed architecture and escalating when necessary.
- Drive the adoption of automation, efficient tools, and modern front-end technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Establish and implement efficient front-end workflows and processes, and develop support documentation, including architectural principles.
Leadership & Team Growth
- Mentor, coach, and support the professional growth and onboarding of engineering team members.
- Track and support performance feedback within the team.
- Assist in the recruitment and integration of new front-end team members.
Strategy & Innovation
- Contribute technical insights to project planning, aligning team efforts with project goals and identifying opportunities for technical improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate with Technical Directors to find innovative front-end solutions and share knowledge.
Process Management
- Ensure the team follows agreed development processes and workflows, establishing and implementing efficient front-end workflows for consistency and efficiency.
- Support the team in grooming planned activities, understanding work requirements, and providing detail into Stories in collaboration with the BA/PO, including defining and agreeing on acceptance criteria.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation, including front-end architectural principles.
- Manage and communicate technical risks, escalating to the Lead PM or Technical Director when necessary.
- Review front-end deliverables and initiate corrective actions when required.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the main technical point of contact for the team, engaging with customers and stakeholders to discuss technical topics and bridging the gap between technical and business perspectives.
- In collaboration with the PO, translate business requirements into technical needs.
- Clearly present technical solutions and progress to both technical and non-technical audiences, escalating larger initiatives or issues to the Technical Director when appropriate.
- Communicate technical updates and resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Provide on-call support when required.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+) fundamentals
- Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles
- Experience with Node.js in particular with Next.js framework and server-side/client-side rendering concepts
- Strong knowledge of Tailwind CSS for building responsive and reusable user interfaces
- Expertise in front-end testing using Jest
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approaches for deployment and release management
- Experience with front-end build tools and module bundlers
- Strong understanding of performance optimization, benchmarking techniques, and best practices
- High proficiency with Git
Front-End Architecture & Code Quality
- Expertise in designing scalable front-end architecture for complex applications
- Strong grasp of design patterns and modern development paradigms, such as component-based architecture
- Focus on maintainability, performance optimization, security, and accessibility
- Best practices for modular front-end development
- Basic knowledge of self-hosting Node.js applications in containerized environments
- Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and orchestration of front-end applications
