IT Support Engineer

Position

The IT Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support, managing end-user computing assets, and ensuring smooth operation of core IT services across the organization. This role supports the full lifecycle of laptops and related hardware, administers Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD), and assists with day-to-day network operations. The IT support engineer also contributes to the management and optimization of Jira and Confluence platforms to support internal workflows and knowledge management.

This role is mostly office based, with occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance or project activities.

Key Responsibilities

End-User Computing & Device Lifecycle

  • Oversee the laptop and workstation lifecycle including procurement, imaging, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across Windows and macOS devices.
  • Maintain accurate asset records and ensure devices comply with corporate security standards.
  • Implement updates, patches, and device configuration policies.

Microsoft 365 & Entra ID Administration

  • Manage user accounts, groups, licensing, and access permissions in Microsoft 365.
  • Administer Entra ID including onboarding/offboarding workflows, MFA enforcement and identity governance tasks.
  • Support email, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive operations.
  • Assist with the rollout and adoption of M365 features and security enhancements.

Network Support

  • Provide first- and second-level support for basic network issues (Wi-Fi, VPN, switches, IP addressing).
  • Assist with monitoring network health, escalating complex issues to senior engineers when needed.
  • Support routine network maintenance such as patching, cabling, and device replacements.

Jira & Confluence Support

  • Support the administration of Jira projects, workflows, issue types, and user access.
  • Help maintain Confluence spaces, templates, and knowledge base organization.
  • Provide user guidance and contribute to continuous improvement of team collaboration tools.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in an IT support or System Engineer role (or similar).
  • Experience in end-user IT support, including laptop deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 admin portal and Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Familiarity with identity and access management concepts (MFA, conditional access, device compliance).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing/switching).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to support non-technical users with patience and clarity
  • Solid troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and end-user issues.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience administering Jira and Confluence.
  • Knowledge of endpoint management tools (Intune, JAMF, or similar).
  • Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience supporting MacOS devices is a plus.
