We recently explored some of the issues that the multi-angle camera within our interactive video player, DIVA, can solve. This week, we’re looking at more interactive features. Read on to find out how they can solve three common issues for sport fans.

Issue

Your fans crave more in-depth detail surrounding key moments of the action. Whatever the sport, there are so many micro-moments that work together to create the end-result – fans need more information.

Solution

Maybe they’re looking for more details on an important punch within a boxing match, or perhaps they’re watching archive content and are craving further information, or, simply, they want to check ball possession stats of the game they’re watching. With DIVA’s interactive overlays, it’s all possible.

By clicking on different labels, users get access to real-time sports data without having to move away from the game. Line-ups, teams and players stats, results from other games, can all be quickly looked at while keeping the live stream flowing in the background.

Issue

Your fans want to be kept up to date on the action in other events while they’re watching live action on your platform. What can they do to make sure they don’t miss out on any key moments?

Solution

With DIVA’s alerts you can trigger notifications from other events that are being shown at the same time on your platform. Your users will be able to jump from one event to another as soon as they receive these alerts, to then return to watching the event of their choice.

This feature simplifies the experience for the user, reducing their need to leave the platform to search for footage of key events on social media or elsewhere.

Issue

The game is full of various key moments that the user may want to rewatch, either live or when the action is over. In a standard broadcast environment, the viewer is at the mercy of the broadcast director picking which parts they think should be reshown, giving the user no chance of personalizing their user experience.

Solution

Streaming operators can signpost key moments within a game by adding clickable points to DIVA’s interactive video timeline. These moments can either be automatically populated using the real-time sports data that the DIVA platform ingests, or they can be “editorialized” using contextual human tagging.

On OTT platforms, broadcasters can make a complete replay of a game or event available immediately after it’s finished. By using the populated timeline, users can experience the action exactly as they wish without the involvement of a highlights producer. The same’s true during in-play or at half-time.
