#1. Fans have never been so close to the action

This new release for LIVE BLOGGING introduces the Standard Widget, a brand-new component that works as a connector between multimedia content and content produced by the designated editorial team and the audience of the website. How does this work? We are talking about a JavaScript widget, totally extensible, lightweight and responsive, that can be easily embedded on any frontend and without any complex technical workflow.

Producers are now able to engage with fans without having to write a single line of code, thanks to built-in features and best-in-class practices. For instance, new updates on content made available appear automatically on the widget, whilst previous posts are shown as the user reaches the bottom of the screen via endless scroll. The navigation is smoother than ever before, with useful ‘back-to-top’ icons helping users to navigate the page in a seamless way.

Fans are now able to stay up-to-date with new updates via notifications that appear automatically on screen. Browsing new content, for a richer experience, is now as simple as tapping on the notification itself.

Not only does LIVE BLOGGING work as an immediate and easy-to-use tool for content editors and end-users, with the integration of the Standard Widget, it also offers a set of options to fine-tune and adapt. The architecture of the plugin, enables developers and producers to extend the capabilities that are built within the solution and tailor them to the client’s needs. Anything from external data to customisation of the look & feel will only require a limited amount of code to be written for an impactful implementation.

Fans can follow an event on any number of platforms, but the user experience is usually lacking one or more key features. However, a fan will follow on whatever platform they are able to find. Among the most important features of a tool that serves as an engine to power a content strategy is ‘discoverability’. Making sure that the content is easily findable by your audience, especially via search engines, today has become a ‘must’, especially in the fragmented sports media landscape. The integration of LIVE BLOGGING with FORGE (Deltatre’s proprietary core publishing platform) is made even deeper with the possibility to use the same taxonomy of the editorial content by using the External Tags feature available on the publishing platform.

Finally, a simple configuration unlocks the possibility to use connections with external data, i.e. third-party sports APIs, and to start defining the taxonomy by navigating through the hierarchy of data. With this feature, continuity in tagging is ensured, along with the classification of content. In addition, the content itself is enriched with specific metadata, making content and related content more easily discoverable.

Further, this release enables editorial teams to enhance their storytelling by enriching content with the use of photos, picked from the media library. Images that were previously uploaded can be accessed by the back office and embedded in a post, or published straight onto the stream. Additional metadata such as captions or notes on the copyright for specific assets can be set from the relevant panel once the graphic element has been embedded in a post. Its appearance to the end-user can be tailored to the context of the live coverage. Fans can then access a wide range of meaningful information.

That’s not everything. LIVE BLOGGING, similar to what FORGE does with the graphics bank, leaves complete decisional power to the dedicated team when it comes to the rendering of images once the post goes live. Editors can access a preview panel for an overview of how the image will appear to end-users across multiple formats and devices. The Cloudinary Smart Cropping feature will allow editors to crop the preferred portion of the image to be adapted to multiple aspect ratios. Cloudinary is the photo and video management platform LIVE BLOGGING use to store and manipulate media assets.

#4. How’s your content performing?

Content and context are of paramount importance. The power of cutting-edge content strategies can only be harnessed by the ability to make the most of the data that can be tracked and monitored in terms of consumption. User habits and behaviours can be tracked through robust analytics and data-capturing capabilities which are now natively integrated into LIVE BLOGGING.

Several metrics can be included, from tracking of opened links, to the consumption of posts, average time for single sessions to name a few.
