What’s the work community really like at Deltatre? Ellie Carter, Office Assistant, shares her experiences first-hand

Deltatre was my doorway into the big wide world of tech. I distinctly remember walking in on my first day in the hot summer of 2018 thinking ‘I am way out of my depth’.

Little did I know that I was about to embark on a journey that would see my skills grow, horizons broaden, and knowledge of the industry expand; all the while being supported by the company's unique community.

What stood out for me from day one was the inclusive and welcoming nature of the diverse workforce that made up the team. It was – and still is – intrinsic to everything we do.

The importance of feeling connected to your colleagues in a workplace is one that cannot be underestimated. Connection is power, and from my early days in the company right up until now, this feeling has not wavered.

For example, the simple yet essential act of greeting your team members is woven into the company’s culture and is part of the unspoken daily routine. Instead of plugging in and switching off to the outside world by 9.01am, we collaborate and interact, and this is reflected in the global community that Deltatre boasts.

We transcend oceans and time zones, working as one to create a community that is truly unique to us. Whether this is via a funny GIF on Slack, a company-wide Zoom call, or team building during the multiple trips between offices colleagues take, we all have a role to play in our thriving global work community.

"Little did I know how much the community I’ve become a part of would so positively impact the way I work, think, and play"

Along with its diverse workforce, Deltatre fosters and encourages growth as a priority. Whether this is supporting the ever-evolving shape of an individual career, offering the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals at conferences and events, or the ability to wander into an exec’s office for a chat about the latest news in tech. This openness and transparency is something that Deltatre prides itself on.

As well as these opportunities, I was so happy to realise the genuine connection that my colleagues in London have with one another. With flexible working options, weekly team breakfasts, healthy (and not so healthy) snacks to mull over in the break out spaces, it was clear that people are at the heart of what we do.

It was obvious that my new employer recognised that as we spend most of the week with one another, it is of utmost importance for colleagues not to feel isolated in their role and team. For those who want to get involved, there are also ample opportunities to socialise inside and outside of working hours.

These small touches matter – and highlight the company’s dedication to ensuring staff achieve a positive work-life balance. The need for flexible working is recognised, and importantly, staff are also seen as people with lives outside of the office. They always listen and are dedicated to helping people maintain a healthy work-life balance.

As I joined Deltatre, I knew I was about to embark on an exciting step on my career ladder. Little did I know how much the community I’ve become a part of would so positively impact the way I work, think, and play. This sense of belonging is present both on a local and global scale, and it’s a community I feel very lucky to be a part of.
