Sports media and technology firm Deltatre has teamed up with US virtual reality company LiveLike to produce a joint solution for sports and entertainment clients, while it has also appointed Adam Nightingale as senior vice-president of commercial.
The solution will focus on social engagement and gamification around live content. Deltatre’s DIVA player and LiveLike’s community-focused feature-set will be used to create the solution.
The solution will be made available to operators for multi-platform video streaming services. The companies will work together on augmenting DIVA’s interactivity and data visualisation with LiveLike’s chat, badges, leaderboard and other social functionality. It is hoped the solution will keep fans engaged around live sports content.
Andrea Marini, deputy chief executive and chief commercial officer at Deltatre, said: “A joint proposition or solution from Deltatre and LiveLike provides clients even greater functionality, immersion, and fan engagement. Our integration with LiveLike provides operators added ways in which viewers can connect with the sports they love to watch. It’s great to work alongside a company that is as committed to fan engagement as Deltatre.”
Miheer Walavalkar, chief executive and co-founder at LiveLike, added: “The advantages for clients are clear; Deltatre and LiveLike’s integrated solution will transform client streaming offerings into a modern, ‘lean-forward’ experience that will power fan engagement, without requiring clients to commit significant development resources.”
Nightingale, meanwhile, will report to OTT president and board director Ron Downey in his new role as senior vice-president of commercial. Nightingale will assume responsibility for the commercial arm of Deltatre’s OTT and live-streaming services and ensure clients’ business needs are provided with the necessary technology solutions.
Nightingale will also focus on company growth around the world in mature and emerging markets. Nightingale most recently served as senior vice-president of international at video experience company Accedo and has also held senior roles at Irdeto and Mobilitec.
