Something people don’t know about me…

My last name is really just a single letter. This has prompted quite a few interesting chats when making airline reservations online!

I chose this career path because…

I like fiddling with gadgets and figuring out how they work, which led me down the programming rabbit hole.

I describe my job as…

Making technology bend to my will.

My friends and family describe my job as…

Playing with computers!

I start the day by…

Having a nice cup of hot kopi-C (coffee with evaporated milk and sugar). If you haven’t tried it, you must if you are ever in this part of the world!

An ordinary day at work goes like this…

Fuelling up on coffee! It helps me to refocus and pick up where I left off from the day before. I like to jump straight into stand-ups and start striking off items from the to-do list, which can range from getting tasks ready for developers, to client meetings.

This helps me to compartmentalize the day ahead and decide when a second coffee might be needed – probably a systematic approach left over from days of honing my craft as a developer.

The best piece of advice I’ve been given is…

Work smart, play hard.

Outside of work, I like to…

Watch football with a beer or two in hand.

A song that gets me in the zone is…

It depends on the mood of the day! My Spotify playlists can be pretty diverse, so it could be Coldplay or Linkin Park one moment and Jay Chou or Andy Lau the next.

I am passionate about…

Football. Come on you Spurs!

To me, the definition of success is…

Enjoying what you do and doing what you enjoy.

I’m excited about the future of…

Technology. I’m looking forward to the day when I can say, “Hey Siri, make me a coffee.”
